Nestled on flat land in front of a landscaped hill and protected from the prevailing wind, the four self-contained boatshed studios enjoy stunning views over the ever-changing seascape of Putiki Bay. Northeast facing, sunny, and tranquil, the water's edge is just beyond the door as well as communal facilities for all of our guests to enjoy.
About our Boatsheds
Each purpose-built wooden boatshed is fully self-contained and includes a small private wooden deck with outdoor furniture. The boatshed interiors are white, bright and stylish with painted concrete floors, wooden joinery and French doors, a kitchenette, wardrobe, French café style folding tables and chairs and a comfy queen size bed. Each ensuite bathroom has tiled walls, shower, hand basin, wall cabinet and toilet. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk is provided. There is one designated parking space per boatshed.
A note for travellers with mobility issues: Our property is located on a hill and has a steep sealed driveway that may prove inconvenient to elderly guests or those with mobility issues. While the vast majority of our guests don't have a problem, please consider your personal situation when planning your stay.
Accessibility
Boatshed #3 is not wheelchair accessible or set up for guests with mobility needs. If you or another guest in your party requires wheelchair access or accessibility features, please ensure you book into Boatshed #1.
Due to the close proximity of the four boatsheds to our other guests, we do not allow children in boatshed cabin bookings. Please view our Starfish Apartment if considering bringing children.

GETTING TO WAIHEKE: Waiheke Island is a 35-40 minute ferry ride from the Auckland CBD via Fullers360 or Island Direct passenger ferries, or about an hour via Sealink car ferry.Tickets can be pre-purchased online or at the Downtown Ferry Terminal. For the busiest peak months (December thru January) we recommend pre-booking your tickets to avoid queues and be sure to arrive early for your ideal crossing.
TRANSPORT VIA PUBLIC BUS: There are public transport buses to meet almost all passenger ferries which can be boarded just outside the terminal building at Matiatia. Cash is not accepted on the bus so you will need to purchase an AT HOP Card at the Downtown Ferry Terminal (Auckland CBD) or Waiheke-side at the Fullers 360 ticket office (Matiatia Ferry Terminal). Board the 50A or50B bus to Onetangi and request to be dropped at the Shelly Beach Road stop (Stop ID 1183). The ride to the bus stop is approximately 15-20 minutes and the easy walk to our property is five minutes from there.
TRANSPORT VIA HOP-ON HOP-OFF BUS: Fullers360 operates a special service called the Hop-On Hop-Off Explorer bus that offers tours and daily passes for unlimited travel to specific island destinations, predominantly the vineyards. This is a sightseeing bus (and is priced as such): it is not meant as a once-off ride to get to Boatsheds on the Bay. If visiting multiple vineyards with ease is on your trip's agenda, please look into purchasing a Hop-On Hop-Off pass before you arrive via the Fullers360 website. If you are planning to use the Hop-On Hop-Off service, Boatsheds on the Bay is close to stops #3 and #13 near Goldie Vineyard.
TRANSPORT VIA TAXI: Private taxis are readily available at most hours in the car park taxi rank outside Matiatia Ferry Terminal. We personally recommend WaiCab taxis (0800924222) and the price as of 2023 is around $25.00 NZD (subject to change). The ride is approximately 10 minutes. Please note that Uber and Lyft do not provide service on the island.
DRIVING FROM KENNEDY POINT (SEALINK CAR FERRY):If you're bringing a car (or renting one on-island), one car park per boatshed or apartment is available free of charge on our property. Boatsheds on the Bay is an easy 5 minute drive from the Kennedy Point Ferry Terminal via Donald Bruce Road. Turn right at the roundabout onto Causeway Road, then right onto Shelly Beach Road. Our property will be on the left.

Boatsheds on the Bay began with the light, bright, and funky Starfish Apartment and later expanded to include four purpose-built boatshed cabins, all of which look out over the picturesque Putiki Bay on Waiheke Island. With the vibes of the Mediterranean and Pacific present throughout the property, we're all about relaxation and finding the perfect way to unwind.
The team behind Boatsheds on the Bay is made up of Waiheke residents who know and love the island well. We're eager to share what Waiheke and our property has to offer to all of our guests and hope your stay with us is a truly memorable one.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
